(Dan Tri) – Contrary to the trend of price reduction in the Vietnamese auto market during this period, Hyundai Palisade is one of the few products where customers have to spend more money if they want to receive the car early.
Surveying in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Hyundai Palisade has a phenomenon of price differences at many dealers, mainly in 6-seat villages.
Meanwhile, the 6-seat Exclusive version (suggested price 1,479 billion VND) has a lower difference, about 50-60 million VND.
Hyundai Palisade is assembled domestically, but supply is not enough to meet demand, and there are few cars arriving at dealerships, leading to the phenomenon of `price gouging` (Photo: TC Motor).
The situation of cars being sold at prices higher than the company’s listed price or doing business like `beer with peanuts`, meaning that car buyers need to buy accessories, is not new in our country.
In addition to the reason that the number of cars is less than demand, dealers have another reason to sell the Palisade price channel because there is only about 1.5 months left until the policy reduces 50% of registration fees for cars manufactured and assembled in the country.
The fact that the dealer sells the 6-seat Prestige version of the Hyundai Palisade for up to 80 million VND makes the Government’s incentive no longer meaningful, because the 50% reduction in registration fee is about 95 million VND (6% of the car’s value).

Despite the price difference at the dealer, Hyundai Palisade is still significantly cheaper than competitors in the same segment such as Ford Explorer (2,439 billion VND) or Volkswagen Teramont (2,499 billion VND).
In addition to Palisade, Honda CR-V 2024 and Toyota Innova Cross also require Vietnamese customers to spend more money if they want to receive the car early.
In particular, the e:HEV version of the new CR-V is sold with a `gray` package of 20 million VND, while customers who buy Innova Cross have to spend an additional 30-50 million VND, depending on the dealer.
The fact that the car price at the dealership is higher than the company’s listed price or the `beer with peanuts` business model causes frustration for some customers.
Besides a few cars that are sold at a price difference or sold with accessories, many other car models now have to be promoted to attract customers.
